General introduction to MSG-3

Planned maintenance for passenger and cargo aircraft

The course includes a comprehensive introduction to the MSG-3 methodology, which is used to systematically and comprehensibly determine inspections and their intervals (scheduled maintenance) for passenger and cargo aircraft.

 

As a supplement to this theoretical introductory course, we offer individual on-the-job training on the topics of MSG-3 system, structural and/or zone analysis on request.

Target group: This training is aimed at aviation engineers or aviation technicians.

  • Experience in aircraft maintenance and repair is an advantage

  • Introduction: Target of MSG-3 and historical background
  • Aircraft certification requirements (Type Certification)
  • Basic documents: Air Transport Association of America, MSG-3
    - Revision 2007, Revision 2009 and Revision 2011
  • Policy and Procedure Handbook for each aircraft family
    - Organization of the MSG-3 process
    - MSG-3 bodies: ISC, MWG, MRB
    - MRB and ISC Meetings, MRB Report Approval Process
  • Overview of types and methods of analyses
    - Methodology of system analyses
    - Methodology of structural analyses
    - Methodology of zone analyses
    - Methodology of Lightning / HIRF analyses
    - Examples of system, zone, structure and L/HIRF analyses
  • Revision process of MSG-3 analyses / MRB report
  • Context between MSG-3 analyses, MRB report, MPD, OMP and AMM
  • Question and answer period
